Four Environmental Licenses for Mining Activities Issued
Dili, 08 June 2020; Following the decision from Higher Environmental Authority for Petroleum and Mineral sector and subsequent publication of the decision in the Jornal da Republica dated 15th May 2020 in accordance with the Article 21.2 (a) and 21. 4 of the Decree Law No.5/2011,
Autoridade Nacional do Petróleo e Minerais (ANPM) issued Category B Environmental License to four local companies for sand and gravel quarry activity on the 8th June 2020.
The four local companies receiving their Environmental License are Profrawijaya Unipessoal, Lda for proposed quarry at Laclo River, Municipality of Liquica, Star King Raw Material Unipessoal, Lda for proposed quarry at Raiketan River, Municipality of Covalima, Natureza Timor Naroman, Lda for proposed quarry at Fatisi River, Municipality of Aileu and Jonize Unipessoal, Lda for proposed quarry at Daudere River, Municipality of Lautem.
ANPM appreciates cooperation and collaboration of all stakeholders including company directors and their consultants to have completed all administrative and technical requirements for the granting of these Environmental License. During implementation, ANPM continue to encourage these license holders to observe and implement mitigations measures committed under the Environmental Management Plan to minimise potential impacts to the environment as a result of the conduct of their respective activities.
